Mary Patterson
First Grade Teacher
About Me
Education:
Grand Valley State University Master of Arts degree: Early Childhood Education
Bachelor of Science degree: Social Studies/Elementary
Education Experience:
I have been working for Shelby Public Schools for 27+ years! I spent 1 year working in special education, several years working with a team teacher in a multiage classroom setting and most recently, teaching first grade. I also worked as a substitute teacher during my first year out of college. Many of my additional graduate classes and professional development sessions include topics that are very relevant to first grade: Struggling readers, math problem solving, parent involvement, student behavior, and poverty challenges.
About me:
I like to spend time with my family and do outdoor things like swimming, camping, biking, skiing and snowshoeing. I also like to read and talk about great stories!
